Love the One You're With: Book number 18!

So I finished Love the One You're With last night, and I must say I didn't like it quite as well as Something Blue. I was disappointed that I had to wait until over halfway through the novel for something really exciting to happen. I felt like the first 2/3rds or so of the novel were just Ellen's thoughts/feelings. Very little action.

Don't get me wrong. I still enjoyed the book, and it did make me cry at the end. I wasn't 100% convinced that Ellen had made the right choice by the end of the novel either. I really needed to see a how her life changed with "the one she picked" after, well, she picked him. Instead, the tidying up bit at the end was all about her friendship with Margot, a character I didn't like at all. She seemed very fake.

I'll probably keep reading books by this author for a little while. For some reason, I kinda enjoy to didactic messages in her books. They are simple and to the point.

  1. I had to read the end to see what was going to happen. I was too anxious to wait to get thru it. I liked it a lot, but thing Something Blue & Borrowed are a lot easier to like.
